Tanjungpinang, Kampus Bersendikan Wahyu Berteraskan Ilmu — In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of environmental preservation, the Mahasiswa Pencinta Alam (MAPALA) of STAIN Kepri organised a Conservation Seminar themed “Harmony with Nature: Efforts to Conserve Fauna and Flora for a Sustainable Future” on Monday (10 November). The event took place in the Lecturer Meeting Room of the Integrated SBSN Lecture Building and was attended by various stakeholders concerned with environmental issues.

The seminar was attended by Wisdar Hanum, M.Pd. (Advisor of MAPALA STAIN Kepri), M. Taufiq Khalafi (Acting Chair of MAPALA SAR), Phonik Mahardika (Chair of MAHAPALA UMRAH), and Muhammad Zainal (Chair of MAPALA HANGTUAH). Also present were the CAANG MAPALA SAR members for 2024 & 2025, representatives from SEMA, and delegates from various student organisations (Ormawa).

During the seminar, the speakers delivered a range of important topics related to conservation, including the definition of conservation, the role of flora and fauna in maintaining ecosystem balance, threats to biodiversity, and strategies and benefits of environmental preservation. They also discussed the current challenges and potential solutions in implementing conservation efforts.

Diana shared her thoughts on the event, noting that the seminar provided a valuable platform for students to gain a deeper understanding of conservation concepts and to familiarise themselves with local conservation mapping.

Through this activity, participants were encouraged to cultivate greater awareness and a collective sense of responsibility in maintaining ecological balance.

“Hopefully, after this event, all participants and the community will develop a stronger commitment to preserving the environment. The beauty of nature and the sustainability of flora and fauna are precious investments for the future,” Diana stated.

With the successful organisation of this seminar, MAPALA SAR hopes to continue serving as a pioneer of environmental awareness movements and to inspire the younger generation to take an active role in conservation efforts across various fields. (Gby/Diana/Ndr)
